The travel emergency kit we take on every trip
A red first-aid case goes with us on flights, drives, and cruises, already packed with TSA-approved medicines, tools, and the small extras we always want.

We have always traveled with the same red first-aid case, our travel emergency kit. It comes on flights, it comes when we drive, and it comes on cruises, zipped at home and dropped in the bag so we already know what is inside.
Everything inside is TSA-approved, so we never have to think about security while we pack. Tweezers, nail clippers, scissors, and a sewing kit stay in the case, and the scissors include a kid-size pair that is fine to fly, so the whole kit rides in a carry-on and we are not second-guessing it at the airport. That same case is the one we take when we drive and when we cruise.
The case holds the medicine and first-aid things we want with us. We keep an Epi-pen, cough drops, anti-itch cream, Abreva, lip balm, nose-bleed stoppers, bandaids, hand sanitizer, and alcohol wipes. We also pack Sudafed, Claritin, Benadryl, Excedrin, Advil, Tylenol, Tums, and Pepto-Bismol, along with kids versions of Advil, Claritin, Benadryl, and Pepto.
The rest of the kit is the smaller stuff we still want along. Lens wipes, laundry sheets, sunscreen, a few small garbage bags, and a pen, a pencil, and a pad of paper all live in there with the medicines. We also tuck in a few tooth-fairy coins, the same Sacagawea dollars we use at home, because a lost tooth does not wait until we are back.
That is the whole kit. Same red case, already packed, every time we leave.
