The snack cabinet they can reach
After pickup used to start with someone asking us to get a snack down. Then another someone. Then the five-year-old, who already knew what she wanted. We got tired of being the ones who had to open the cabinet.
So we put the snacks they like where they can reach them. Next to that is a small fridge with water, milk, snack cheeses, salami, and bubbly water. If it is in that cabinet or that fridge, they can take it. We restock what disappears.
They come in and they are already eating while someone else is still hanging up a backpack. A cheese stick and a bubbly water do not need us in the middle of it. After pickup still has plenty of asks. Snack is just one less.
